The University of Tennessee at Martin football team rolled up 445 yards of total offense Saturday but ultimately it wasn’t enough as Samford dealt the Skyhawks a 27-17 setback in the 2023 regular season finale.
UT Martin led by a 10-3 margin late in the first quarter, but the defending Southern Conference champion Bulldogs scored 24 unanswered points. Despite four turnovers and a pair of trips inside the 5-yard line that resulted in no points, the Skyhawks had a chance to pull within one score with a little under four minutes to go but a 38-yard field goal was missed.
Ranked No. 13 in this week’s AFCA Coaches’ Poll and co-champion of the Big South-OVC Football Association, UT Martin finishes the regular season at 8-3.
