WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) introduced a bipartisan resolution in the House of Representatives condemning and denouncing antisemitism at institutions of higher education.

The resolution was co-sponsored by over 50 of their colleagues.

The resolution is in response to the horrific uptick in antisemitic attacks, incidents, and harassment on college campuses. Antisemitic incidents have spiked 388% across the U.S. since Hamas’s massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023, according to Anti-Defamation League (ADL) preliminary data.

“The rise of antisemitism, especially within young people on college campuses, is abhorrent,” said Congressman Kustoff. “Hate has no place in our national discourse, and it is imperative leaders condemn and voice their strong opposition to such horrifying acts of violence and discrimination. Jewish students deserve to feel safe on their campuses, not be subjected to intimidation and harassment. I am proud to introduce this critical, bipartisan resolution that reiterates the need to combat antisemitism in higher education. I urge the swift passage of this resolution in the House of Representatives.”

“Blatant antisemitism masked in pro-Palestinian activism is, sadly, nothing new on college campuses,” said Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz. “But I am horrified by the sheer volume of threats, vandalism, doxing, and violence targeting Jewish students, often encouraged by morally bankrupt faculty members who praised the massacre and kidnapping of Jewish families. The pernicious spread of Jew hatred on our campuses must be reversed.”

The companion resolution was introduced in the United States Senate by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), James Lankford (R-OK), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). It passed by unanimous consent on October 26, 2023.

This resolution is supported by the American Jewish Committee, Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith International, Hadassah — The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Jewish Federations of North America, Jewish on Campus, Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, and World Jewish Congress.
