A historic season for the Westview Lady Chargers soccer team came to a close Thursday afternoon when the fell in the second round of the state tournament to the 2 time defending champions Merrol Hyde.
The now 18-2 Westview team fought fiercely against the Hawks from Hendersonville, preventing any scoring for much of the first half of play despite Merrol Hyde taking all of the shot in the opening 10 minutes. However, under a barrage of offense the Chargers eventually gave up 2 goals and fell to the Hawks 2 to 0.
Despite the loss, Westview accomplished 2 firsts for the soccer program. They scored their first goal at the state tournament and won their first opening round match in school history.
