Yellow Jackets Crowned Reelfoot Conference Champions

The Greenfield Junior High football team capped off an undefeated season Thursday night by defeating the Hillcrest Cougars 38 to 8.

The Greenfield offense put up a dominating performance, taking a 22 to 0 lead to the locker room at halftime. Turnovers in both halves hurt Hillcrest, and the Yellow Jackets capitalized.

Westin Porter had scoring runs of 13, 1 and 2 yards for Greenfield. Knox Liggett completed a 49-yard touchdown pass to Baker Biggs. Biggs also scored on a 36-yard run. Liggett rushed for the 2-point conversion after four of the Jacket touchdowns.

Hillcrest scored in the fourth quarter on a 76-yard pass from Tucker Phelon to Eric Lewis. Phelon ran for the 2-point conversion.

Greenfield finished the season with a perfect record of 8-0. Hillcrest ended the campaign at 5-3.

Junior Jacket coach Hal Blackman spoke with Thunderbolt Radio Sports after his team’s win in the conference championship.

Coach Blackman said a number of players contributed for Greenfield in the game and throughout the year.

Greenfield had 11 8th-graders on the team. Coach Blackman talked about the group and the achievement of an undefeated season.

Following the game, the Reelfoot Conference announced the members of this year’s All-Conference team.

Greenfield – Baker Biggs, Cody Dallosta, Logan Griffin, Anderson Hayes, Charles Jones, Knox Liggett, Brayden Madison, Westin Porter, Heston Rudolph, Phillip Scates

Hillcrest – Cainan Bridges, Eli Buckland, Luke Hepler, Eric Lewis, Tucker Phelon, Tucker Richmond, Cooper Sanford

Dresden – Aiden Carrington, Wyatt Davis, Bryson Hames, Caiden Mount, Athan Spaulding

South Fulton – Andrew Bradley, Austin Bradley, Ke’Shun Frame, Brady Parnell

Lake Road – Chace Jenkins, Levi Spraggs, Kennan Woods

Gleason – Andrew Bruce, Grant Pinkston

Greenfield boasted the two Most Valuable Player winners for the conference championship game. Westin Porter earned Offensive MVP honors, and Anderson Hayes was the game’s Defensive MVP.
